Just ordered a Mac Mini

I use Windows all day at work. At home I just want a computer to surf the web, write some documents, do some financial stuff and work with my ever-increasing amount of digital photos and video.

After much thought I broke down an ordered one of those new Mac Mini's from Apple. Everything is easier to do on a Mac

However, PokerStars does not support Macs so I will still be tethered to my Windows-based laptop for too many hours.

Flask Advice

I was going to post something but saw that the Infamous "While Drinking, I..." came
out with an excellent article on flasks.

Check it out here.

The Steelers have Broken My Heart

I sit here, Maker's Mark on the rocks by my side and am beside myself and how the Steelers are doing. It is the 4th quarter but it looks very, very grim.

Ouch!

Looking for a Steelers Victory

Look for a Steelers victory this evening.

Ramblings about Makers Mark and Thor's Hammer

A thousand thank you's to my soul brother over at the infamous, While Drinking, I... blog.

I highly recommend this site. It *WILL* improve your life.

I have not posted for a few days - working for the man and having my testicles in a lockbox (aka - "Married with a child") will do that.

But I digress.

I have accomplished two things this week due to "While Drinking""

  1. I became a Maker's Mark Ambassador. I have enjoyed this fine bourbon for many years but had no idea I could sign up to obtain such a position.
  2. I searched for and found "Thor's Hammer" Vodka. My friends, this is one fine vodka. As I write this I am enjoying a dirty Thor's Hammer martini made with two jalepeno-stuffed olives. Yummy!
Time to kick back and play a sit-n-go at PokerStars.

I share While Drinking's concern for having enough liquid courage/golf swing oil on hand for the weekend. Where I am at we are supposed to get pounded with snow tonight. I do have cigars and Red Hook ESB at hand for when I have to go outside and use the snowblower.

Now if I only had a flask....

Harrasement Policy at Work

Today at work a bunch of us had to attend a corporate lecture on the company's new "No Tolerance Harrasement" policy.

It was all the obvious stuff.

I was wondering though, according to the wording of it, that asking a woman at work out on a date could technically be considered an "unwelcome advance".

Yikes - who knows where this new policy will take us.

Sit-N-Go drought is over!

Finally. I was in three sit-n-goes at PokerStars and never finished higher than 7th (all were played with a dirty martini in tow).

Wonder of wonders I finished in 2nd place in one I played yesterday. Hmm, I did have a Red Hook ESB going at the time. I wonder if that was a factor?

Steeler Musings

I think the Steelers/Jets game was a toughie on rookie quarterback Ben Roethlisberger.

Just goes to show that playoff football is the best football each year.

Hopefully Ben, with his busted playoff cherry, will play like he did during the regular season.

Steelers/Jets aftermath

Moving kinda slow since being overserved during yesterday's Steelers/Jets game at my favorite Sports Bar.

I had to have some Baileys with my morning coffee to take the edge off.

Had some friends over this afternoon to yap, eat Buddy's pizza and have a few Red Hook ESB's.

Funny but I know of several get togethers today since nobody I know is working tomorrow since it is MLK day.

Got a good Red Hook buzz going so it is time to park my butt in a chair and play some sit-n-gos at PokerStars.

My kindred spirit at WhileDrinking... is probably on his second lite beer of the afternoon - how sad!

Steelers Win

Whew! My Steelers pulled out a victory.

I think ol' Ben was taught a lesson in playoff football.

On a positive note I did win a bet with a buddy/Jets fan during the game.

I was able to choose anything from the bar. I ordered a Maker's Mark.

Seeing it was 10 degrees outside it was not a tough choice!!

Maker's Mark warms the heart. Now if I only had a flask!

If I made any grammatical or spelling errors during this post it is because I had about 10 Harps, 1 Heiny, 1 Bass and a Makers Mark during the game. Surry!

Permission Slip

Yikes! My wife reluctantly agreed to my request to go watch the Steelers game this afternoon with my golfing buddies.

Hmm. Watch the game at home or in a cigar-friendly sports bar with my buddies?

Steelers vs. Jets

Yeah, I know the big game isn't until tomorrow but I need announce my prediction:

Steelers 37, Jets 10.

Go Steelers.

While Drinking... Blog hits a new low

My friends, It is with a heavy heart that I write this reply to my kindred soul over at the infamous While Drinking blog

For the life of me I can not figure out why any person with a pair of testicles would drink lite beer while playing poker or AT ALL.

The beers/drinks I indulge in while playing poker are:

1) Red Hook ESB
2) Red Hook Winterhook
4) Dirty Martini made with Ketel One vodka ( with two stuffed blue cheese olives).
5) Milagro Tequila

NEVER drink lite beer.

Inside each 12-pack of Lite beer there is a Vasengil coupon. 'Nuff said.

Playing Poker and Drinking Lite Beer - U Crazy?

First of all I am appalled that any man would drink Miller Lite or any light beer for that matter. Lite beer is drunk by babes along with cosmopolitans. Geez, next thing you know I will see posts about that new "Desparate Housewives" show.

Secondly, I say playing ring games on PokerStars when the stakes are 0.05/0.10 is the way to go when one is drunk to the bejesus belt. Don't forget to add plenty of trash talk to the table.

However, playing in a tournament or at a buddy's house (assuming it is a tough table and the stakes are "not cheap") requires one to be "in the zone". This means a nice, even relaxed buzz. Venture out of the zone to the left and you will play like a tightwad. Venture out of the zone to the right and you won't even have cabfare to get your drunken butt home.

Same goes for golf. Waste of time to play sober but if you get too wasted you will spray golf balls all over the course.

Sit-n-goes

Ah, Life.

Had a dirty martini and fired up Pokerstars for a sit-n-go.

I won the darn thing!

Soooooo addictive.

Grill a Peach

As opposed to the infamous "Eat a Peach" from the Allman Brothers Band.

  1. Cut a peach in half. Discard pit.
  2. Grill for two minutes on each side. Make sure you get the grill marks on it.
  3. Place a dollop of mascarpone cheese in the center of each half.
  4. Drizzle with honey.

Awesome.

Poker Sit and Goes

Wow. Playing on Pokerstars playing sit-n-goes.

The real challenge is to spear the small fish as they go down.

"While Drinking, I..." answers the questions posed to him

The infamous "While Drinking, I..." blog has risen to the challenge of matching drinks to circumstances.

Check out his excellent post here.

Yikes! Me no have a flask!

How to Shovel Snow

1) Get a cigar.
2) Get a Redhook ESB.
3) Dress warmly.
4) Fire up snow blower.
5) Clear snow while enjoying cigar and Redhook.

Hosted blogs sites

Anyone have any suggestions for using one of those paid blog sites?
Typepad? Wordpress? Movable Type?

I'm looking to move this blog plus a friend's who set one up for his family to share stories, photos, etc.

Caustic Tech

I highly recomment Caustic Tech

This guy pulls no punches. Genius.

If you are into tech like I am I highly recommend a vist to this site. Kudos!

Move to Typepad?

I wondering if moving the blog to Typepad is worth the cost.

Any opinions?

"Anonymous" doubts the accuracy of the Bible

A comment from someone, found at this link
list what he/she thinks are Bible passages that contradict each other.

I will go through each of these in due time and correct the reader and show him/her where they are wrong.

As for Moslem theology, it is like any other false religion, like Catholicism.

Nobody comes to God except through his son Jesus.

Yes, over one billion people can be wrong.

The Purpose Driven Life?

I think this "Purpose Driven Life" by Rick Warren is another danger to the real church.

It is placing human emotion and experience above the true gospel.

Don't buy this book. Buy a Bible instead and read it.

Tsunami help

First of all, I think it is a good thing to offer help those victims of the recent Tsunami disaster.

But I can' t help but wonder where all the international outpouring of help was for the good people of Florida when hurricanes ripped through their homes and businesses a few months ago.

Hmmm?

Get back to work!

Wow! Really looking forward to getting back to work on Monday - NOT!

When the alarm goes off tomorrow it will sound like a bomb going off.

Cleaning your gun tip

Try MPro 7 the next time you clean your handgun.

I have no idea what is in this stuff but it is supposed to be non-toxic.

It does a great job.

Best cleaner I have ever used.

Cars from China?

Just read an article about some guy looking to import cars from China.

Good grief. Is anything going to be made in this country?

2005 will also continue to unnerving with all the corporate outsourcing going on.

What will happen? The people here who lose their jobs will not be buyers of big ticket items.

One day the bottom is going to drop out of this nation's ecomony.

Things to do in 2005

Good TV for nursing a hangover

While laying around, blogging, sipping coffee laced with Baileys, I find that MTV's "The Real World" is a great thing to watch out of the corner of your eye.

You feel better about your own life after watching the losers on this show.

Happy New Year

Little bit of a hangover going. My fault for having wine along with the grilled lobster tails after I had had a couple of martinis.

As I type I'm waiting for the Xanax to take the edge off.

I'll have a beer soon, fire up football on the telly and play some poker at PokerStars.
