This a nice smooth brew with a slight creaminess to it.

It has no bad aftertaste like Heneikens do.

This is one nice beer to enjoy with a good cigar.

One Must Have Goals

While perusing the Forbes site I came across
this article on several beers. I had not tried serveral of them.

I made it a goal to try all of those I had been unfamiliar with.

One has to have goals

Maker's Mark Ribs

Maker's Mark Ribs

Basting Sauce

• 1/2 cup (packed) golden brown sugar
• 1/2 cup apple butter
• 1/4 cup Maker's Mark
• 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
• 3 tablespoons apple cider
• 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard

• 1 tablespoon coarse kosher salt
• 1 tablespoon (packed) golden brown sugar
• 1 1/2 teaspoons dry mustard
• 1 1/2 teaspoons dried thyme
• 1 teaspoon ground ginger
• 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
• 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
• 2 2-pound baby back pork ribs
• 1 large onion, sliced
• 1 cinnamom stick, broken in half
• 6 thin rounds peeled fresh ginger
• 1 1/4 cups apple cider

Basting Sauce: Whisk all ingredients in a bowl.

Ribs: Mix first 7 ingredients in small bowl. Using small sharp knife, loosen membrane from underside of each rib rack and pull off. Rub 1 tablespoon seasoning mix into each side of each rib rack. Place ribs in large roasting pan. Cover and chill at least 6 hours (or overnight).

Preheat oven to 325. Lift ribs from pan. Scatter onion, cinnamon stick and ginger in pan. Pour in cider. Return ribs, meat side down, to pan. Cover pan with foil. Roast ribs until meat is tender and tends to pull away from the bones (about 2 hours). Uncover, cool for about 1-2 hours.

Prepare barbecue grill at medium-high heat. Grill ribs about 5 minutes per side. Slather basting sauce on each side of ribs and grill about 3 minutes per side.

Makers Mark Ribs

During the past holiday weekend I tried two new things:

  1. Ribs on the grill with a sauce made with Makers Mark. Actually the recipe called for any bourbon but I just had to go with one of the best.
  2. A C.A.O. Extreme cigar. This is one full-bodied smoke so make sure you have a solid base of food before trying this one at home.

Poor Tom

From Led Zeppelin's "Poor Tom" song:

..." His wife was annie mae
With any man a game she’d play
When tom was out of town
She couldn’t keep her dress down."...

Led Zep still rules....

Love is like Oxygen

Strangest thing going on my head.

I woke up with an old terrible song playing in my head. I have no idea of the band or the title.

Love is like oxygen,
you get too much you get too high,
not enough and you're gonna die.....

I think I'm having a flashback (or a nightmare as I hated that song).

Edmonton 2, Wings 1

Gack! I'm officially worried about my Red Wings. :-(

I hate these west coast games. Who can stay up until 2:00AM on a "school" night (always liked that term) to watch them?

Two Things I will never figure out

How to make:

1) Guacamole - I've tried a dozen different recipes to no avail.

2) Margarita - Same as number #1. They still taste better in a bar for some reason.
